Honeywell GSMV Cellular Communicator

Honeywell GSMV Cellular Communicator

Honeywell GSMV Cellular Communicator

The Honeywell GSMV Cellular Communicator is a great way for you to add full contact ID reporting over GSM to a central station monitoring service. You can use this unit as a backup to your existing land-line or for primary reporting. This unit handles Contact ID reporting using ECP mode with compatible Honeywell control panels or combined with optional dialer capture for non-ECP capable control panels. Dialer capture mode means that it pulls the signal from your panels phone line connections. That means that instead of hooking into your ECP terminals, where your keypads hook into, you can have it report this way as well.

This unit should be used with Honeywell panels but you could also use this on another panel where you could use the dialer capture mode.

Not only does the GSMV report fully to a central station, but it also gives the owner of the alarm system the capability, for an extra fee and added peripherals, to communicate with the central station via two-way voice communication. This will give you piece of mind especially if the alarm system is installed in a residence that has an elderly person living there. They can talk with the station operator in case of a medical emergency.

A very good unit that will give you piece of mind if you have worries about someone cutting your phone line or if you have no phone line at all.

Honeywell GSMVLP5 For Lynx Touch

Honeywell GSMVLP5 GSM Cellular Communicator For Lynx Touch

Honeywell GSMVLP5 GSM Cellular Communicator For Lynx Touch

The Honeywell GSMVLP5 for the new Lynx Touch alarm system is only compatible with this system. It gives Lynx Touch users the ability to get rid of their land-line phone lines for communicating to a central station monitoring service.

If the only thing that you are keeping your land-line for is your Lynx Touch alarm system then this will let you get rid of it totally. The Honeywell GSMVLP5 will allow your Honeywell Lynx Touch to communicate with a central station monitoring service through the GSM cell phone frequency.

Installation is a snap and the unit is plug and play with a couple of programming changes of course. You just pop open the front cover of the Lynx Touch, attach in the GSM module in the provided space with the three screws provided, enable the GSM, configure alarm reporting and module supervision, and register the device.

Most monitoring services offer two-way voice communication and with the GSMVLP5 you’ll be able to take advantage of that feature. With the two-way voice feature; if your alarm goes off and calls the central station then they in turn can talk back to you to see if everything is alright. You don’t need any other add-on because of the Lynx Touch’s built in microphone.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to get rid of the land-line telephone line or if they’d like a backup just in case of phone trouble.

Honeywell Lynx Touch L5000

Honeywell Lynx Touch L5000

Honeywell Lynx Touch L5000

The Honeywell Lynx Touch L5000 is here!!! If you were a fan of the Lynx Plus then you’ll will love the new version of the Lynx alarm panel. This touch screen panel is so user friendly that it might put some installers out of business!

This has a lot of the same features of the Lynx Plus but a whole lot more! The number of zones in this model has been expanded to 64 over the Lynx Plus’ 40 zone capacity.

As well as having more zones than the Lynx Plus; the L5000 has 2 numbers that can be called out to for self-monitoring.  A lot of people wanted more than one number being called out if they were not using a monitoring service. With the new Lynx Touch users get to have a two number dial out. If you alarm went off then it could call your cellphone and office.

The Lynx Touch still has the same voice annunciation but the voice is a little different and the speaker is louder. You can easily change the volume by touching and dragging the volume slider up or down.

Another thing that is different in this newer model is that with the Lynx Plus you had to learn in every button on a keychain remote. With the Lynx Touch you go into programming and choose the ‘Keys’ programming option. When you’re in this mode all you have to do is choose how many buttons the remote has and then press one button. The entire set of buttons gets learned in with the press of one button!

Another feature of the new Lynx Touch is the ease of use when it comes to home automation. The Lynx Plus could perform some home automation through the use of X-10 devices. The problem with X-10 devices is that the use your house’s wiring to send the signal from the alarm panel. Most homes have circuit branches from there breaker box. If the device you want to trigger is on one branch and the transmitter is on the other; this could cause intermittent operation. The new Lynx Touch, with the addition of the Z-Bridge module, can operate through wi-fi to operate devices. This is way more reliable than conventional X-10 operation. If you would like to know more about Z-Wave technology then you can visit Z-Wave.com to learn more about this advancement in home automation.

I have had a lot of fun learning about this new system. Like I said, it is so easy to use that anyone with a little patience who thoroughly reads their manuals could set this up in no time. Honeywell products just keep getting better and easier to use every time they come out with new things.

The N7703 Power Pack For Ademco 5839 Wireless Alpha Keypad

N7703 Power Pack For Ademco 5839 Wireless Alpha Keypad

N7703 Power Pack For Ademco 5839 Wireless Alpha Keypad

The N7703 Power Pack is for use with the Ademco 5839 wireless alpha keypad.  The 5839 keypad is usually powered by a nine volt lithium battery. When the keypad is powered in this manner it will go into power saving mode and will only display when an activating key is pressed.

With the N7703 this is not the case. Your 5839 keypad will stay in ‘Always On’ mode which means your keypad will constantly display all states that your alarm system is in.

This can also function as a charger for those nine volt lithium batteries as well making it dual purpose.

So if you’re in the market for a wireless keypad for your Vista alarm panel then you might want to consider picking this up as well.

Ademco 5839 Wireless Alpha Keypad

The Ademco 5839 Wireless Alpha Keypad is great for people who want additional keypads for their Vista series panels but don’t want to or can’t run the wire for a traditional wired keypad. This will only work with a 5883 receiver and will not work with the RF receiver keypads.

The 5839 is a full alpha display keypad  that compares to the Ademco 6160 wired keypad. It reads out all alarm events in plain English text. It also, if programmed, will read out descriptors for your zones.  It features function keys just like the 6160 as well.

This keypad is powered by a 9 volt lithium battery and will shut off when not in use to conserve battery power. It comes back to life when you hit the asterisk key.

You can, however, get a power pack for this unit that will keep the keypad in ‘always on’ mode. The Ademco N7703 is a transformer for the 5839 and connects with a piece that you can find in any electronics store.

A very nice buy if you want a wireless keypad!

Ademco 5800RP RF Wireless Repeater Module

Ademco 5800RP RF Wireless Repeater Module

Ademco 5800RP RF Wireless Repeater Module

The Ademco 5800RP RF Wireless Repeater Module is great for those who aren’t happy with the 200 ft. transmission range of their Honeywell Vista or Lynx alarm panels can use this to extend that range indefinitely.

A lot of people stray from purchasing the Honeywell hardwired or wireless panels because of the lack of range, but they often don’t know that that problem can be solved by adding this to their systems. This is one of the greatest additions to the Honeywell wireless line that I’ve seen for awhile.

At first, when I started in this field, I thought that the 5800RP was strictly for use with hardwired systems, but it is in fact a stand alone unit and comes with its own power source.

Listed below are the features and benefits of this module.

Features

  • Extends the range of 5800 series of wireless devices
  • Receives alarm, status and control messages from 5800 RF devices, and repeats these messages to the control panel via the primary receiver
  • Compatible with all 5800 wireless devices (including bi-directional devices)
  • UL residential burglary listed
  • AC powered with a six-hour battery back up
  • Tamper protected

KEY BENEFITS:

  • Provides extended coverage, reduces labor costs, saves installation time
  • Saves wire run to a secondary receiver at a remote location
  • Eliminates the need to upgrade to a control panel that support two receivers

Cell Phone Dialer Module Dock N Talk Station With Bluetooth Module

Cell Phone Dialer Module Dock N Talk Station With Bluetooth Module

Cell Phone Dialer Module Dock N Talk Station With Bluetooth Module

People often ask how they should monitor their system if they don’t have a land line at their premise and they don’t want to use a monitoring service. In that case we refer people to the Cell Phone Dialer Module Dock N Talk Station with Bluetooth Module.

The Dock N Talk is a cell phone dialer module that pairs with any cell phone that is blue tooth capable. It provides a dial tone for the system to call out on. That way when the alarm is triggered it uses the cell phone to place the call. Keep in mind that the cell phone can not go more than 50ft away from the Docking Station. The cell phone that you choose to put with the Dock N Talk must be dedicated to it.

The Dock N Talk pairs nicely with the GE Simon XT wireless Alarm System, or with any alarm system that has a voice dialer. So if you are looking to self monitor and do not have a land line the Dock N Talk is the perfect solution.

The Honeywell CE3 Code Encryptor

Honeywell CE3 CODE ENCRYPTOR 3

Honeywell CE3 CODE ENCRYPTOR 3

The new Honeywell CE3 Code Encryptor kit is an awesome new addition to the already great lineup offered by Honeywell. This little gem is made for people who have a hard-wired system but want the convenience of adding a wireless key-chain remote to arm/disarm their system with the push of a button. It also gives the comfort of knowing what state your system is in with the addition of an LED status light.

What makes this awesome is that not only does it work with Honeywell alarm systems, but it also works with systems by other manufacturers as well. These are the compatible systems:

Honeywell DSC GE-Caddx Napco
4110XM All Power Series NX4 v2 P816
VISTA-10/SE/P 816 NX6 v2 P1632
VISTA-15/P 832/5010/5020 NX8 v2 P3200
VISTA-20/SE/P PC1616 NX8E v2 with RP keypads
VISTA-21iP PC1832/1834, PC1550,
2525/3000

The Honeywell CE3 also has the added feature of allowing for 2 relay ouputs so that people may use two buttons on the key-chain remote for operating their garage door or for turning on lights.

Installation is a snap. You hook the wiring harness into the keybus of the panel that you’re installing the kit into then attach the receiver. You do have to perform a few simple button presses when you connect the receiver, but nothing too hard. You then connect the wires on the LED light to the wiring harness as instruction in the installation materials and learn in your keyfobs. None of the instructions are hard to understand at all.

This is a great way to add key-chain and status light functionality to any of the above systems.

The IP BAT Broadband Alarm Transmitter by IPDatatel: Total Self Monitoring

IP BAT Broadband Alarm Transmitter Communicator

IP BAT Broadband Alarm Transmitter Communicator

Have you ever wanted all the features of a central station monitoring service but wanted to do it on your own without paying the exorbitant fees associated with such a service? Then the IP BAT is for you!

The IP BAT Broadband Alarm Communicator by IPDatatel is the latest in self-monitoring technology. The module is a little bigger than a credit card and packs all the power of a central station service. There is a small monthly fee for using it, most of the time it’s under $10, but you get a lot of very cool features for that small monthly fee. Some of those features include a internet based interface that has a built in virtual keypad, the ability to set up a contact list, remote event log checking, set custom user names to user codes, and the ability to have messages sent to anyone on your contact list by either a phone call, text message, email, or all three at once. The other great thing about this module is that if you decide to have central station monitoring, you can and you will most likely only get charged for land line monitoring because the server makes the call as if it were from a land line phone.

The installation of the BAT is very simple. I connected it to the keybus terminals on a Vista 20P and then ran an Ethernet cable to my router. I then entered into programming in the alarm panel and input changes in the five sections that it told me to change. This is all it took, besides having it activated, to get the BAT up and running.

These units are compatible with Honeywell and DSC wired systems, but IPDatatel is coming out very soon with updated units that will work with some wireless systems also. You can check out what systems the IP BAT is compatible with HERE!

This is the neatest add on to an alarm system that I have seen in a long time. Thanks to IPDatatel for making something that takes self-monitoring to a whole new level.
