Alarm Systems For Do It Yourselers
We get calls nearly everyday asking what alarm system we would recommend for a do it yourselfer. Most people calling for some reason don’t realize that our website was built specifically to cater to do it yourselfers. I would venture a guess that 90% of our customers are in fact do it yourselfers. Some may be business owners looking to save on their alarm system or alarm monitoring and some are even industrial or municipals that are having their maintenance personnel install the system, but the fact remains all of this 90% are typically first timers at putting in the alarm systems. Only about 10% of our customers are professional alarm system installers.
The answer to this question is really easy, all of the systems we sell can be installed by do it yourselfers with a little support and guidance from our tech support folks anyway. Some systems are a little easier to setup than others, but all are actually much easier than most people think. It’s all low voltage (12 volts), so it’s pretty safe to work with too. We even offer to pre setup and program most models for a small fee so that it can be as easy as plug and play for the most part.
In a future post I will dig into this ongoing question a little further and give some insight into why one may wish to choose one system over another for a given application. We sell all the top brands such as GE Security, DSC and Ademco. Within each brand there are several models too, so sometimes it can get a little overwhelming choosing the system that is right for you. Till then, feel free to call our techs at 888-811-0727 for system advice.

I am interested in the voice dial feature of the GE Simons XT. I like that I can choose to not pay for a service but have my cell phone called. I do not have a land line, do I need any additional hardware/software?

If you do not have a landline, you would need to add an extra blue tooth capable cell phone to your cellular account, then also purchase our dock n talk station that will use this extra cell phone to call out on.
